Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at the Theatre Royal in Drury Lane

Wednesday 13th January

A group of mainly year 8 students went to see a matinee performance of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at the Theatre Royal in Drury Lane. The students had a good knowledge of Roald Dahl, having studied his books last term and visiting the Roald Dahl museum .The students travelled into the West end by train from St Albans and then travelled by Underground to Covent Garden tube station. The students sat in the very front row of the stalls and really enjoyed the show, they were directly above the Orchestra.

“IT was amazing, fantastic and awesome. The music was brilliant” said one of the year 8`s, who has never seen a West End production before. A high point of the afternoon was when Willy Wonka   stepped off stage and ran down our row ! Miss Wagstaff  remarked that she had never been on such a well behaved trip in any school. Another year 8  thought the actors did an incredible job and the stage set was brilliant.

After the show the students returned to school, but not before being treated to an ice cream. The staff accompanying them commented on how well they had all behaved, both on public transport and during the show.
